Valuing the work of faith-based institutions.

FACTS serves as the neutral hub and partner responsible for and distributing PPE kits and other resources to the faith-based partners. Faith-based partners are uniquely positioned in these communities, offering physical space, convenings, and services. By joining to provide tools (PPE) and critical information, FACTS will help keep people safe, help to flatten the curve, and sustain citizens across the region.

  • Provide PPE to their parishioners during convenings.
  • Make PPE available for parishioners sheltering in place.
  • Conduct community hours during which members of the surrounding community can receive PPE kits and critical information.

Dr. Rashawn Ray and Solutions for the COVID-19 Equity Problem

“The most vulnerable populations aren’t pre-disposed to trust hospitals and traditional government institutions (schools, city halls, etc.). We know from other forms of social practice that if you want to create change in a community, you have to meet people where they are and where they feel comfortable and safe. Empirical evidence shows us that churches and church leaders are able to serve this role, even for community members who do not attend church regularly.”

- The FACTS approach, which is tailored to meet the specific cultural, historic and language needs of disproportionately impacted populations, was recently lifted by Dr. Rayshawn Ray during his recent speech at the City Club of Cleveland.

Leadership  I  Experience

Fred Ward, a neighborhood activist in the E. 105 and Superior neighborhood of Glenville, is active in his neighborhood and working to address issues that lead to incarceration, including safety, food access, police concerns, etc. He operates a local storefront called the Khnemu Center where he offers hot meals, classes, and conducts voter registration and education programs. He is a passionate person with respect and connections in the community that are allowing him to make a difference.
The Khnemu Foundation (Khnemu) deeply values the work of faith-based institutions across Northeast Ohio and intends to partner with more than 100 faith-based partners to lead a unifying project known as: Faith And Community Together Serving (FACTS).
With the creation of FACTS, Khnemu is establishing a structure that also leverages its relationships with the Formerly Incarcerated Individuals Necessary Political Action Committee (FIIN-PAC), Environmental Health Watch, MetroHealth Center for Health Resilience, PeaceMakers Alliance, and the Greater Cleveland Faith-based Collaborative to maximize impact.
Our approach, which is tailored to meet the specific cultural, historic and language needs of disproportionately impacted populations.
